California, here I come. Forty seven days ago we headed west and on Sunday we will be there. From the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.
The trip yesterday was fairly easy. Once we got to Las Cruces and got on I-10 West we drove west. The terrain was all pretty much the same until about an hour into Arizona when we came across rocks. Huge rock mountains. It was neat to see huge rocks stacked on top of eachother. I have included a slideshow sharing some of the pictures. We reached Tucson in early afternoon (Arizona is on Pacific time) and we were able to check in early. We stayed overnight at Davis-Monthna AFB in Tucson. The 355th Fighter Wing assigned to the 12th Air Force is stationed there. What the base is well known for is the Air Force Material Command's Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group better known as the sole aircraft boneyard for all excess military and government aircraft. It allows for preservation of the aircraft. It is a sight to see!
As we drove through the base last night looking at the miles of planes we got to see a beautiful sunset over the Tucson mountains. A nice ending to a nice day. Today we are headed to California!
