Mira Mesa, San Diego, CA

Last night my sister Pam and I went to Mira Mesa.  It is a large suburb in the city of San Diego.  Its borders are Interstate 15 to the east, Interstate 805 to the west, Los Penasquitos Canyon to the north and the Marine Corp Air Station Miramar to the south.  The west end of Mira Mesa is a buisness and technology park, often refered to as Sorrento Mesa, and is a major employment area for San Diego.  The population of Mira Mesa is 80,000 with a median income of $63,000 and a median age of 32.
Around World War II the area now called Mira Mesa was used by the U.S. Army as a test area.  Starting in 1969 there was a housing boom in the area and Mira Mesa became one of the earliest areas of urban sprawl along the Interstate 15 corridor.  Mira Mesa became home to almost all military because of its location to NAS Miramar (now a Marine Air Base).  For nearly 30 years the Navy's Top Gun school was located there so most of the pilots made Mira Mesa their home.  In the late 1990's Mira Mesa had undergone extension expansion to accommodate the thousands of new residents due to the businesses around the area.  UC San Diego, MCAS Miramar, Qualcomm, and dozens of biotech and pharmaceutical companies are located in  Mira Mesa.  It has a large Asian-Amerian population and due to their presence a diverse shopping area is available with groceriesa and shops offering Filipino,Vietnamese, and Indian goods.  Mira Mesa has a well done mixture of business and residental housing.
We were in Mira Mesa for a get together with my California BFFs and it was good to be all together again. Last spring we lost one of our BFFs suddenly and her death all hit us hard.  Judee Pepper was full of life and a very talented lady.  She loved life, her husband, her family and her friends.  In a couple of weeks Pam and her "Rubba Sistas" are having a Fall Festival and it is dedicated to Judee.  They will be selling some of Judee's stamps and stamping supplies with all the proceeds going to  the Organ Donor organization. We spent last night going through the items and getting them ready for the sale.  We had a good time together which is the way Judee would of wanted it.   Today, I will be helping my sister get some more stamping projects completed for the fall festival.
