Old Town Trolley Of San Diego Tour

One of the best ways to see and do San Diego is taking the Old Town Trolley Of San Diego Tour.  Tim and I took this tour a couple of years ago and so we thought it would be a good way to show Carrie San Diego.  The trolley tour offers several stops along the tour and is a convenient way to get around San Diego without having to do the driving and deal with the traffic. The tour starts in Old Town San Diego State Park, which is the busiest State Park in the country, and the birthplace of California.  It then heads to the San Diego harbor but along the way you pass the old plane factories that built the WWII bombers that were built by woman referred as Rosie the Riveter.  We also passed the USMC Boot camp.  The Harbor area is the next stop where there are several ships on display including two submarines, the ship used in the movies "Master And Commander" and "Pirates Of The Caribbean" movies,  The Star Of India and the USS Midway.  Next stop, Seaport Village on San Diego harbor.  It is a quaint seaside village with cute shops and great restaurants.  We had lunch at the Harbor House and did a little Christmas shopping at the shops.  We then headed to downtown San Diego that was created by Alonzo Horton who bought up all the land by the water which became a much better area for San Diego to be located.  Next stop the Gas Light district which was once a very rough and rowdy place but today has been turned into a great place to eat and drink and enjoy nightlife in San Diego.  We then headed to Coronado Island where the Hotel Del Coronado is located and also one of the most beautiful beaches in the U.S.  After Coronado Island we headed to Balboa Park with is a city park that is 40% bigger than Central Park in New York City.  Our final destination before returning to Old Town was San Diego's Little Italy.  It is the largest Italian neighborhood in the U.S. beating New York City and San Francisco.  We had a great day and really enjoyed our trolley tour of San Diego.
