The City of Presidents is a series of life-size bronze statues of our nation's Presidents. They are located in historic downtown Rapid City, SD randomly placed on the street corners. This project began in 2000 and each statue is privately funded. Every year four presidents were placed. Two presidents from the early era and two presidents more recent. The first four presidents were George Washington, John Adams, George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan. They each show the personality of the President. The statues were away to bring patriotism and art to downtown Rapid City. All the presidents are represented except President Obama.
I enjoyed checking out all of the Presidents and I especially like that the sculpture picks up the personality of the President. It makes it a lot more fun to locate and see each President. I have posted a few of my favorite statues. It did become a bit of a hunt because we didn't have the map of the Presidents but it was also fun because before you could see thier faces or plaques you could tell most of them by the way there were standing. Once again bringing out the personality of the President. It is a fun addition to the downtown area.
