The Campgounds of Camp Pendleton MCAS

So while driving to the Commissary yesterday our curiosity got to us about the other campgrounds on Camp Pendleton.  We are at the Lake O'Neil campgrounds which are located in the middle of the base right near the Navy Hospital.  This is the only campground we have stayed at in Camp Pendleton but we have been considering one of the beach campgrounds until we took the drive yesterday.  We first visited the Del Mar Beach Resort RV sites which are located right on the beach.  The sites are very nice with some beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean.  We were thinking we might try it for a week until we looked up the prices.  It is double the amount, per night, than what we pay at Lake O'Neil.  Then we went to the San Onofre campgrounds that are located inside the San Onofre State Park.  These campsites are also right on the coast but are a lot further away from the Oceanside/Carlsbad area.  The price is also double of what we pay at Lake O'Neil.  So, after checking out the other campgrounds we will continue to camp where we are and we also now understand why the Lake O'Neil campground stays full!
