Waikiki Beach, HI
We spent our last full day in Hawaii at Waikiki Beach. It is the most visited beach on Oahu and it was a overcast and rainy day so we figured why not check it out. Waikiki in Hawaiian means spouting fresh water. Waikiki is the beachfront neighborhood of Honolulu and has beautiful white sand beaches. On a sunny day the beach and shopping area would have been packed but on an overcast day it was not bad. We first went to the Hale Koa Hotel on Waikiki (it is a military hotel) and had lunch. They have a great snack bar that you can get food and then take it over to the Barefoot Bar to eat it and have a drink. We sat right on the beach enjoying our lunch. After lunch we walked the beach and took lots of pictures of Diamond Head. We did not get a chance to hike Diamond Head on this trip but when we return later this year we will do it then. We were going to hike Diamond on Sunday but Sunday was a complete washout due to the heavy rains. After the beach we did a little shopping at the stores in Waikiki. So, our last full day in Hawaii was fun. Yesterday we spent the day getting packed up and ready to leave. Our flight was at 10:00 pm. We had a nice dinner at a small Italian restaurant in Kailua and then headed to the Air Port. Jenny and Nathan were very gracious hosts and we are glad we had a chance to spend three weeks with them. Thanks again Jenny and Nate; we love you both very much! I am writing this post at the San Francisco Airport waiting for our final flight to San Diego. We will be in San Diego for another 9 days then we start our Eastern Ho! trip back to Florida. After being in Hawaii I now understand why when someone visits Hawaii they form a natural love for it! We sure did! So Mahalo Hawaii and Aloha! Check back later for pictures...it is time to board our flight,
