Home from TLC Tour

I am home from the TLC Tour and had a great time! I am very fortunate to be able to be involved with the TLCs. They are a great teen choir and the best bunch of teens to be around. The love and care they have and the their belief in God is encouraging and uplifting. They are our future and we are in good hands. Their Director and the counselors that work with the TLCs are a wonderful bunch and the love, care and guidance that they give is wonderful. Thanks to all for another great tour.

I would like to wish my son-in-law,Nathan,a very Happy Birthday! Wish we could spend it together! Have a great one!

Where was I last week? Well, I did some traveling. On the TLC tour we traveled over 1800 miles. We left on Sunday June 12 and traveled to Sandersville, GA (276 miles from Jacksonville). We performed a concert at Sandersville UMC and then went swimming at a local country club with their youth group.
Monday June 13 we traveled to Chattanooga, TN (250 miles) where we went caving at Raccoon Mountain Caverns. We walked through the caverns that were discovered back in the late 1920s. It was a fun trip. We then performed a concert at the Tennesssee Baptist Children's Home.
Tuesday June 14 we did a performance at the Ridgedale Baptist Church where we also spent the night. We then headed to Nashville, TN(134 miles). We had dinner at Famous Dave's BBQ then headed to the Grand Ole Opry. We saw Jim Ed Brown, Chuck Wicks, Jean Shepard, Edens Edge, George Hamilton IV, Dailey & Vincent, Little Jimmy Dickens and Darryl Worley. The Opry was great and I hope to return to it sometime in the future.
Wednesday June 15 we headed to Cookville, TN (79.7 miles) where we worked a Habitat Mission Project. We then performed and stayed at the First UMC Cookeville Church. After the concert we went Bowling with their youth group.
Thursday June 16 we headed to Knoxville, TN (101 miles) with a side trip to Hartford, TN to go white water rafting. We rafted the Pigeon river that has 1 to 4 class rapids. It was a two hour rafting trip and we all had a lot of fun. I posted a picture of my group going down a rapid. After the rafting trip we headed to Knoxville where we performed and stayed at Concord UMC.
Friday June 17 we headed to Morganton, NC (272 miles) to perform and stay at Salem UMC. Their hospitality was great and they made us feel so at home. We did stop in Ashville, NC to do some shopping!
Saturday June 18 we headed to Athens, GA (198 miles) to stay and perform at First Presbyterian Church. We had our Banquet but with a twist. We dressed in Togas and participated in the Redneck Olympics. We had our year end talent show then a devotional that was very powerful.
Sunday June 19, after singing at three services, we headed home to Orange Park, FL (317 miles). We arrived home by 6:00pm to a welcoming congregation, had pot luck and then did our final performance.

So, I have finally begun to travel and will begin a new adventure tomorrow...we are headed to Orlando, FL.
