Happy 4th of July! I hope you have a wonderful holiday! I started my celebration early. Yesterday Tim and I went to the Magic Kingdom for the day. The crowds were not as bad as we expected and I am still glad we went yesterday instead of today. The crowd predictions for the Magic Kingdom today is over 100,000. We got to the Magic Kingdom around 3:00 just in time to see the parade from the train platform. We rode the train around the park to check things out. After the train ride we started in Frontierland which was a zoo. People everywhere! We could not even get close to Splash Mountain or Thunder Mountain. We walked towards Adventureland and went on Pirates of the Caribbean. Tim was wondering if they would work Blackbeard (from the current Pirates movie) into the ride and they did. I will not ruin how or where he is placed in case you are going on the ride. I will keep it a surprise. The Jungle cruise and Swiss Family Treehouse were our next rides. We moved over to Libery Square where we saw the Hall of Presidents (good attraction for the 4th of July). After the Presidents, we ate dinner at Pecos Bills food court.
After dinner we rode the Liberty Square Riverboat that circles Tom Sawyer's Island then headed for Tomorrowland. We rode the People Mover then went back to Fantasyland where we saw Mickey's PhilharMagic (great show).
After Mickey's PhilharMagic we looked for our place to sit/stand during the Fireworks. We have found, over the years, that sitting in front of Cinderella's Castle for the the fireworks is beautiful but too crowded. So, a couple of years ago we were in Fantasyland, behind the Castle, during the fireworks and loved it. The fireworks go off all around you. Last night's show was in celebration for the 4th of July. I have to say that last's night show has to be one of the best firework displays I have seen or experienced. Fireworks were going off all around us. We were in the middle of the circle and all I can say is "WOW"!!! It was amazing!!! I am still like a kid when it comes to fireworks and I will probably will never grow out of it. I don't want to either. Have fireworks? I will watch and play!
After the fireworks we headed back to Tomorrowland where we did the Carosel of Progress, Buzzlightyear's ride and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. We finally made it to Mainstreet USA for some shopping.
As we were leaving for the night (11:30pm not 3:00am) we found out the Monorails were down. I know it has happened before I just never had been there when it had but it makes you realize how many people the Monorail services. They lines for leaving at the boat and the buses were huge. I was glad I did not have to leave that way. We just jumped on the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus and were off.
Today we will be participating in the campground festivites and maybe take in the local fireworks. We leave to go back home tomorrow and have to do some preparations for tomorrow. I hope you have a Happy and Safe 4th of July. Enjoy, have fun and be safe during this holiday.
