Dana Point, CA

Yesterday, Tim, my Mom, my brother Craig and I attended the Tall Ship Festival that was being held at the Dana Point Harbor. It was so cool.
Dana Point was called "the romantic spot on the coast" by the author of
"Two Years Before The Mast", Richard Henry Dana Jr who wrote the book about his experience as a common sailor during 1834-1836. The Pilgrim Tall Ship that resides at the Dana Point Harbor is a replica of the ship he sailed on. Dana Point was founded by the Pacific Electric Railroad Company in 1923. The population of Dana Point is 33,351 with a median income of $63,000 and a median age of 40. In the 1960's Dana Point started to build its harbor area and it was dedicated in July 1971. The Harbor was built with a modern feel and is still, after 40 years, one of the best harbors in California. Each year the Harbor sponsors a Tall Ship Festival. It is amazing to see these ships up close and think that this was the only mode of transportation and trade for hundreds of years. Tomorrow I will post a slideshow and information all about the the tall ships. Check back...it will be cool!
Today, Tim and I are moving the RV to Jamul, CA to the Pio Pico Thousand Trails RV and Campground Resort. It is located in southwestern San Diego County.
