Las Vegas Strip at Night

Last night we went back to the Las Vegas strip to enjoy the lights and night life on the strip. We were not disappointed.   It was light and bright and looked so beautiful.  We walked the 4.2 miles times two just to take it all in.  We had so much fun and being there Halloween week end made it extra special with several tourists dressed in halloween costumes along with several of the casino workers.  There were still your street characters out there waiting to get a picture with you, for a tip, and we decided the street performers at night are much better than the street performers during the day.  I was a littel disappointed that I could not find one Elvis but maybe that's because they were all performing in the casino lounges.  I mentioned to Tim at least we did not have to get all the literature for strip shows, etc until we hit the next corner and it began.  I have become quite good at walking past and ignoring the girls, girls, girls handouts!  We enjoyed seeing all the free shows that the casinos put on along the strip in front of their casinos.  In front of the Mirage a Volcano goes off every hour from sunset to Midnight.   It is incrediable and worth seeing when in Vegas.  The Bellagio does a fountain show from 3:00 pm to Midnight every 30 minutes.  Each show is different and also worth seeing.  We saw 3 1/2 of the water shows and I think the show to Chorus Line's "One" was the best.  Other casinos's with free shows are Treasure Island, Bally's, MGM Grand to name a few.  It was fun to be on the strip at night but it was crowded and with each hour it got more crowded.  We thought being a Sunday night it would not be too crowded but we were wrong.  We visited a few more casinos but we did not have any luck and decided to take in the sights and not play.  We had a great time!
Earlier during the day we drove to the downtown area of Las Vegas where some of the really old casinos are still around.  They have a dated look but it was still fun to see the old lights of Las Vegas.  Along the way we passed the Gold & Silver Pawn store aka "Pawn Stars" store.  We did not go in mostly because there is a line to get into the store and we found out none of the "Pawn stars" were there.  It was neat to see.  We stopped by Circus Circus Casino Resort mostly because it was one of the casinos that was still around that I visited the last time I was in Las Vegas.  We caught one of the live circus acts and then had lunch at Rock & Rita's Cafe.  We got to watch the Denver Broncos play against the Detriot Lions while having lunch.  Circus Circus has a huge Adventure Dome which is an indoor amusement park.  The park along with all of the Circus shows and Midway make it a place for families and it was packed!  Tim and I have enjoyed Las Vegas and Hoover Dam.  The only thing that would of made our time here better is to be leaving with some extra cash!
Today we are headed to Cottonwood, AZ (near Sedona) where we will be spending the next two weeks.  I feel like I am going home, in a way, since I attended college in Flagstaff, Northern Arizona University.  Here we come Arizona!
