O Little Town

O Little Town is a replica town built on OPUMC church grounds.  It is a replica of what Bethlehem might have been like.  You begin your journey with a live Angel and the Virgin Mary then walk down a sidewalk lite by luminaries that lead you to the entrance of Bethlehem where you are greeted by a very welcoming couple that guide you to the gate of Bethlehem.  There are two Roman guards standing at the gate of Bethlehem and as you enter through the gate you must give your name and what village you are from so you can be counted.  There are merchants and stables through out Bethlehem with street people, gypsies and beggars wondering all around you wanting to talk with you and tell you stories.  Each merchant talks about their products and you get the chance to meet the Three Wiseman while Angels sing above the street.   As you enter the Inn, the Inn keeper welcomes you but has no rooms and you exit through the stable where you will see Joseph, Mary and the Baby Jesus.
O Little Town is very well done and you really do get the feeling of being in Bethlehem during the time of the first Christmas.  It takes all year and several volunteers to plan, develop and run O Little Town.  If you are in the Orange Park area please visit O Little Town at Orange Park United Methodist Church.  It is worth it! On Sunday (tomorrow) at 9:25 and 11:00 am the Music Department of OPUMC will be doing a Cantata, "A Light Still Shines".  I wish I have better pictures of O Little Town but I will put together a slide show and post tomorrow.  I  have posted two of my better pictures today.
I did get all of the Christmas presents I have so far wrapped and got the gifts boxed that I have to send out. Once I completed that I realized I am almost done shopping and only need two more gifts.  It is only Dec. 10th.  I have never been done this early.  It is a pretty good feeling!
