Camp Blanding Part One

Camp Blanding Joint Training Center is the primary military reservation and training base for the Florida National Guard both the Florida Army National Guard and certain non-flying activities of the Florida Air National Guard.   It is located in Clay County, Florida near the city of Starke, FL.  It has 73,000 acres including Kingsley Lake.  It has several weapon ranges and it also plays host to the Army's latest Air Assault courses in response to the growing need for Air Assault trained individuals. Training areas include three major Maneuver areas with a total of 55,000 acres with various terrains: planted palm plantations, swamps, oak hammocks, desert like terrains and an Urban Training area consisting of 16 buildings, bridge and tunnel training areas.  Camp Blanding can accommodate over 3000 personnel to up to 5500.  There are four brigades that operate out of Camp Blanding and each have their own dining facilities, orderly rooms, Officer/Enlisted barracks, a supply building and Battalion HG building.  During the week, it is a quiet base with minimum amount of personnel but on week ends it is a busy base full of reservists.
We ran a few errands yesterday and we even managed to avoid most of the rain yesterday.  We also visited the Museum and Memorial grounds here at Camp Blanding with I will write about in tomorrow's blog and have a slide show.  Today I am spending the day with my best friend, Robin, who just had shoulder surgery.  I hope I will be of help to her today!  Tonight I have choir.  Happy Thursday!
