The Things You See

Tim and I have been walking daily to get out and get some exercise.  Tim had been an avid walker but when we first started traveling the walking kind of stopped.  Okay, it totally stopped except during sight seeing or hiking.  We started walking again to get ready for the MS 5K and have continued since then.  NAS Jacksonville has some interesting things to see while walking and for the next couple of days I will be posting pictures of the things we see.  The pictures today are located just as you enter the Officers housing area.  The bow of the ship begins the officer's housing on the river and the submarine marks the other side of the CO's house on the base.  The first time I passed them I didn't think anything about it until we came to the 'sub' and then Tim pointed out the first hedge that formed the ship's bow.  Now as we pass them they are landmarks of how far we have walked and how much more there is to go.  When we walked in Wauchula we saw trees and campers and the walking seemed easy because there is something to look at; the base is no exception.  Check back tomorrow and see the other 'fun' things I have found while walking.
Today I am having lunch with two good friends from TRU.  We have been trying to get together for the last several weeks but their schedules keep interfering.  So today is the day and I am looking forward to catching up with all the "gossip" and other things going on at my old store.  As for walking today, we will have to see if we can.  There are some forest fires in the area and smoke is everywhere.  We will check out the air quality then decide what to do.  Even with the smoke, today will be a nice day!
