NSA Panama City, FL Marine & RV Park

Here we are on our first stop of our year long journey.  We are at Panama City Beach, FL and will be here for a month.  We are staying at the Naval Support Activity Panama City Base at their beach campground.  Naval Support Activity Panama City is located in Panama City Beach, FL.  It houses the Naval Surface Warfare Center and the Naval Experimental Diving Unit.  It was founded on July 20, 1945 as the US Navy Mine Countermeasures Station that was relocated from Solomon, Maryland.  In 1955 it was renamed the US Navy Mine Defense Laboratory and in 1972 was renamed to the Naval Coastal Systems Laboratory.  All due to the changing duties for the base.  In 2007 it changed its name one more time to it's current name.  The base is small and compact but it is a nice base and has a beautiful recreational area with an extra RV park located on the south side of the base.  The Marina and RV park has two parks.  One is on the base and along with the marina has 21 RV sites and some rental cabins.  The spaces are a bit small so there is a second RV park located closer to the beach (5 min. away) and across the street from the Bay Point Golf Course.  It has 24 large RV sites, a dog park and a nice laundry room.  It also offers free cable TV and free WiFi.   The best part is we are only minutes away from the State Park (where our friends will be staying) and the beach.  It feels good to be back in Panama City mostly because this has always been our vacation area.  This is our 7th year of coming here with many more years to come!  We did get to watch a spectacular sunset which will be the first of many.  I think we are going to enjoy our time here!
Today we are going to visit some fun touristy places that really do cater to the tourists by doing some special things for attention.  Check back tomorrow and see what I have found!
