Second Day of Fishing = Success!

Day two of fishing was a success!  We headed out in the Carter's boat for our second day of fishing in the Gulf of Mexico around 9:00 am.  The Gulf was really calm with barely a ripple and that was even in the pass which usually has rougher waters.  We started out at the second set of buoys marking in the pass getting some live bait from the huge bait pod that was swimming around.  After we collected a few fish we headed out to the weather buoy where the King Fish were suppose to be biting.  On the way out Bob caught the first fish of the day and it was a really nice sized Spanish Mack.  He likes the taste of Spanish so he was very happy.  We trolled around the weather buoy for a little bit then decided to go back and troll down the Panama City beach and I caught the first King Fish.  Then we continued our streak and it became a team effort for the next King we pulled into the boat.  The fish hit my line and as I was reeling it in all of a sudden I lost it.  As I continued to reel in to re bait Bob's line got hit and he brought in the King.  Fish number THREE.  We baited up and started again.  Bob was bringing another king when all of a sudden his fish jumped completely out of the water and we knew there was a bigger fish after his fish and sure enough it happened.  He continued to reel in and caught half of a king.
We knew it was going to be a good size fish when it jumped out of the water and it still was with the half he had.  We looked down in the water and saw a big barracuda swimming around the boat.  We kept the half of the fish because it still had a lot of meat on it.  Now we had 3 1/2 fish.  I caught fish number four, another King.  We baited up our poles with the last of the bait and got hits like crazy but we were not successful in getting the fish in.  We would lose it before we could even get it close to the boat.  The important thing is we caught some fish, had a great day on the boat and did this all before the storm that was brewing around us hit.  We headed back to the campsite, cleaned the boat and fish, fed a pelican, three seagulls and a large blue Herring some fish guts, got cleaned up and went out for a late lunch early dinner at Mellow Mushroom.  All in all, it was another great day!

P.S.  I am still having a problem posting a slide show so I will be posting pictures instead but if you want to see my slide shows you can go into Picasa and search under my name.  The pictures are public and can be viewed using Picasa.
