The Super Moon

Did everyone get a chance to take a look at the Super Moon last night?   The Super Moon is a full moon with the closet approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit.  The moon's distance from the Earth varies each month between 222,000 miles and 252,000 miles due to the elliptical orbit of the Earth.  The Super Moon is 12% larger than the average full moon but last night's Super Moon was 14% bigger and 30 % brighter at its closet orbit.  As far as the Super Moon causing earthquakes or volcanic eruptions there is no evidence that it does.  It was just a cool Moon to look at and take lots of pictures of.  I did but my camera does not do well on night time pictures so some may appear blurry because they are.  They are still worth looking at due to the moon.
Yesterday our friends Lisa and George arrived in Panama City for a week.  We had a relaxing day checking out St. Andrew's State Park (where they are staying), grilling out and watching the sun set and the moon rise.  Clouds moved in over the Gulf so the sunset did not happen but the moon rise and beautiful.
Today our friends Robin and Bob arrive for two weeks and so let the vacation begin.  I know Tim and I are on a permanent vacation (retired) but there are times when the places we are feel like a  vacation and Panama City Beach is one of those places.  We will be fishing, golfing, enjoying the beaches and the local attractions in the area and the best part is we will be doing it with wonderful friends.
