Westward Ho! Put on Hold

Well it was a short and disastrous trip yesterday.  We were about 10 miles out of town from Panama City, FL when all of a sudden Tim says, 'Blow Out' and pulls over.  Sure enough the second rear tire on the passenger side of the RV had blown out.  When we got out of the truck we could see tire tread debris all over the side of the road with a huge chunk of tire tread on the road, which I removed.  We walked to the side of the RV and saw where the tire blew and the damage it caused to the RV.  In one sense we were very lucky that the debris did not hit any other cars and that Tim was able to get the RV pulled over.  The damage to the RV was minimum compared to some of the damages that I had seen on other RVs from blown tires.  The bottom metal siding had been pulled away from the RV due to the flying tire debris.  So, Tim went to work and changed out the bad tire with the spare.  We both looked at each other with these 'what do we do now' looks.  We decided to go back to Panama City, check back into the Naval base RV park and figure out our next step.  RV tires do not have the life of a regular car or truck tire and when one blows they could all blow.  So, we are in Panama City for another week while we get all new tires on the RV.  We have canceled our Saulsbury, TN reservations until further notice.  It was a disappointing day but the important thing is we were not hurt, the RV is fine and we are only facing a short delay of the Westward Ho! journey.  We did get to enjoy another great sunset!
Today we are going tire shopping. Tim has done extensive research on the best tires to get for the RV and so now it is time to find them, at the best price, and get the RV tires replaced.  Of course, since we are in Panama City we will probably also find something fun to do too.  If we have to be "stuck" somewhere PCB is the perfect place to be.  Although, I am beginning to think we will never be able to leave Florida.  In April, when we were suppose to go to South Carolina and Georgia, we had to cancel that trip due to medical issues.  In May we came to Panama City, FL without any delays.  Then in June when we were on our way to Montgomery, AL we had the blow out.  Makes you wonder!  Check back to see the changes in the Westward Ho! Journey and some fun in PCB.
