Newport, WA

Newport, WA is a city and the county seat of Pend Oreille County, Washington.  Population 2140 with a median income of $25,700 and a median age of 37.  Newport was given its name in 1890 because it was selected as a landing site for the first steamboat on the Pend Oreille River.  Newport was incorporated on Apirl 16, 1903.
Oldtown, ID is a town on the  northwestern tip of Idaho.  Population 184 with a median income of $23,500 and a median age of 35.  It's original name was also Newport but with the two Newports and one port it got a bit confusing so Newport, ID changed it's name to Oldtown in 1947.
Newport and Oldtown almost seem like it is one town and the only reason they are not is the border marker between Washington and Idaho.  Oldtown does not have a town area but does have some retail shopping.  Newport has a great downtown area and is preserved well.  There is even an old fashion soda fountain in the little grocery and deli store.  Newport/Oldtown's historical museum has some great things in it and Tim and I enjoyed seeing all of the loggers items.  In Oldtown, there was a Ben Franklin store, which I have not been in since I was a kid, and so I had to go check it out.  It has everything.  It is like a Walmart just smaller scale.
We have enjoyed our time here in Newport and Little Diamond TT.  We are headed to Leavenworth, WA today.  It is suppose to have a Bavarian town so check back and see!
