Lotus, CA

Lotus, CA is a town in El Dorado County and is where the Ponderosa Resort TT is located.  The settlement was first established in 1849 and was originally called Marshall named after James W Marshall who was a carpenter and sawmill operator who discovered Gold in the American river in 1848 which set the stage for the California Gold Rush.  In 1850 the name was changed to Uniontown to commemorate California's admission to the Union.  It was later changed for the last time to Lotus due to the arrival of the Post Office. Today's  Population is 333 with a median income of $41,000 and a median age of 46.  Lotus is a small town that really supports recreation on the river.  There are a couple of stores and restaurants.   It is a quiet town that comes to life every week end.
We took Shadow swimming today and he loved it.  We found out he is a very strong swimmer because most of the time he was swimming against the current but it did not seem to bother him.  The water was cold and moving at a quick pace but it did not seem to bother Shadow at all.  Today we are headed for Lake Tahoe.
