Quite A Drive!

We knew when we left Lotus, CA that we were going to doing some major climbing on our drive to Yosemite but what we didn't expect was how fast we would go up in elevation and while doing so having so many twists and curves on the road.  Highway 120 runs from the Central Valley near Manteco, CA to Yosemite National Park.  It was originally called the Big Oak Flat trail during the California Gold Rush.  It was a pack trail from Stockton which became popular with prospectors about  1849.  By 1874 it was a wagon road which was extended to the Yosemite Valley.  The paved road has existed since 1934.
We found the drive beautiful and stressful.  Beautiful for me but very stressful for Tim.  The truck didn't appreciate it very much either and got a real work out today.  Of all the mountains we have  climbed through out this trip yesterday's drive was by far the hardest.  I took pictures the whole way up and will post some later today when I go to the activity center where the wifi will be stronger.  We are now in Groveland, CA and will be here for the next two weeks.  Our RV resort is located about 5 miles from Yosemite so we have plenty to do for the next two weeks!  The one downfall is we do not have any cell phone service so I will only be able to communicate with family and friends through emails or Facebook!  Thank goodness we have wifi! Check back and see what we do in Yosemite!
