Highway 74

When I left Menifee and headed to Laguna Niguel there were three routes that I could take.  Two of the routes would take me way out of my way but keep me on interstate highways.  One was going North to Irvine, CA then head south.  The second on was going south to Oceanside, CA then head north.  The third way was to take Highway 74 aka Ortega Highway.  This two lane highway was the most direct but meant driving a road that was full of curves and climbing up to 3000 ft then back down again.  So, which one did I choose?  The direct route of course; what's a few curves.  The drive was full of twist and turns but it was not bad at all and had little traffic.  It had some beautiful views of Lake Elsinore and the Menifee valley and then some more beautiful views of San Juan Capistrano.  I want to take the drive again except this time I want to be the passenger not the driver so I can get some great pictures!  As I was driving this highway I could just imagine that it has to be a favorite road for motorcycles and little convertibles.  A portion of the Ortega Highway was in the film "It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World".  The drive was beautiful during the day (my morning commute to Laguna Niguel) and was challenging at night (my drive back to Menifee).  Oh, what a ride!
