Halona Blowhole

The Halona Blowhole is a natural occurrence formed by molten lava tubes from volcanic eruptions several thousand years ago.  The lava tubes run into the ocean and when the surf is right the tubes will shoot water 30 ft into the air.  The larger the waves the better the spray!  To the right side of the Blowhole is Halona beach.  It is a small sandy beach perfect for swimming when the surf is calm.  The beach is a famous one because this was the beach where the love scene between Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr took place in the movie "From Here To Eternity" that was film in 1953.  If you are lucky you may even get to see the resident sea turtle that inhabitants the cove.  The blowhole was beautiful and it remines be of Old Faithful.  Definitely a must do when in Oahu,Hawaii.  Today is our last full day in Hawaii.  We have had such a great time with Jenny and Nathan and we hate to leave but then again we don't want to overdo our visit. Thanks Jen and Nate for a great time, we love you!
