We have finally made it to Hawaii and it felt so good to give big hugs to Jenny and Nathan. They met us at the baggage claim area with leas for Tim and I. They are beautiful. Even though it was a long travel day it was so worth it when we saw Jenny and Nate! I updated my post, a first for me, because we had such drastic travel plan changes I felt I should share them.
We got up at 3:00 am (Pacific time) to get to the airport by 4:30. It took us about an hour to get checked in (we had already checked in on line but we still had to give our luggage to the airline) and go through security. I have always had to wait in lines when I flew out of the San Diego airport. At 6:00 am when we were to start boarding our flight to San Francisco an announcement was made at the check in desk at the gate. "The plane is broken and this flight will be delayed four hours. Please get in line to rebook." So a mad rush was made for the ticket counter. We were in the middle and after standing in line for two hours when our time came they brought in extra people to help rebook everyone. We were given two options: 1. They could get us to Honolulu but not until 10:00 pm ( 12:00 pacific time) or 2. Take the same flight today(Wed). Since we were at the airport and we did not have the heart to ask my sister to take us early again we chose the 10:00 pm arrival time. Our flight out was moved to 1:22 to LAX. Then at 4:10 we would take a flight to Maui. At 9:00 pm we would catch a hop to Oahu. We did it but it made for a very long day. The flights were uneventful and we got in on time for each. We are now on Oahu and safely at Jenny and Nate's Beach Bungalow. So we finally got greeted with Aloha today and received two beautiful leas from Jenny and Nate. It feels good to be here. Check back tomorrow and see what we did on our first official day in Hawaii! Aloha!
