Clermont, Florida Part 3

I promised yesterday that I would share some of the discoveries I found yesterday so here we go. Tim and I were driving to downtown Clermont to visit the Florida Citrus Tower and were thrilled to come across some very fun places too. I did not realize that I could visit Mount Rushmore, the Lincoln Memorial and the Statue of Liberty right here in Clermont but you can and I did! All we had to do is visit the Presidents Hall of Fame Museum and Gift Shop. What fun! It only cost $9.88 to enter and the ticket is good for a year so we can go back and visit while in the area. Next week we will spend more time in the museum.

On our way back to the RV I came across a wonderful tourist stop. It is called The Showcase of Citrus and it has a little bit of everything. Let's face it when you see a sign with a really big Teepee next to it you know you are in for fun. It has a safari ride where you ride in an old school bus with it's top cut off and painted with black stripes. Oh yeah, and it has been made into a Monster Truck. It was quite a sight until I turned around to find a huge Great White Shark hanging behind me. I never knew great whites hung around in Orange Tree groves but I do now and I will be a little more cautious the next time I pick oranges. They also had a bit of an alligator problem. There were two hanging around. One one the beach (of a small pond) and another in the pond near a sailboat. How the sailboat got there is unknown. The best thing there was the weather station that they have set up for the tourists. It is very high tech. It is a Coconut hanging on a rope with some directions on how to read the weather i.e. if coconut is wet it is raining. Check out the picture of it that I have posted.

We really had fun today visiting these quirky tourist finds and are looking forward to finding more while in this area of Florida. Tonight we begin our Disney week end! We are going to Downtown Disney tonight and having dinner at Bongos with Bob and Robin our best friends!
