Disneyworld - Here I come

This is the beginning of my Disneyworld Week end. Walt Disneyworld Resort emcompasses 30,500 acres which is twice the size of Manhattan or about the size of San Francisco. It has four parks, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. Disneyworld opened on October 1, 1971. The adult entrance fee was $3.50. Today's adult entrance fee for one day, one park is $79.88. Estimated annual attendance for the four parks: Magic Kingdom 17.2 million, Epcot 10.9 million, Hollywood Studios 9.7 million and Animal Kingdom 9.5 million.

Last night started out our week end at Downtown Disney and dinner at Bongos. Tim and I met Bob, Robin and Cheryl in the Market Place where walked around the Market place through Pleasure Island to reach the West Side. We had dinners at Bongos, a wonderul Cuban Restaurant owned by Gloria Estefan. Downtown Disney is a great place to shop and eat. Disneyquest and Cirque du Soleil are also located there. After dinner we relaxed sitting at a table on the lake watching the heat lightning.

Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney MGM Studios) is the third park at Walt Disneyworld Resort and opened May 1, 1989. It showcases the incredible history of Hollywood movies. There are several attractions and restaurants. Some of my favorites are Twilight Zone's Tower of Terror, Rock N Roller Coaster, Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, Lights, Motors, Action Extreme Stunt Show, Toy Story Mania, Star Tours (just reopened May 2011) and American Idol Experience. There are a lot more attractions but the ones listed are ones I make sure I visit when I am in the park.

So today I will be going to Hollywood Studios with Tim,Bob,Robin and joining us is my daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Philip. It is going to be a fun filled day. Check back tomorrow for my update on Hollywood Studios and which park I will be visiting tomorrow. Disneyworld, HERE I COME!
