Lake Charles

Today Tim and I will be checking out Lake Charles. Lake Charles is the fifth largest city in Louisiana. It's population is 72,000. The median income is $31,000 and its median age is 36. It is known as the "Festival Capital of Louisiana" since it plays host to over 75 festivals annually.
We are staying at Sam Houston Jones State Park. Sam Houston Jones was the 37th Governor of Louisiana. I put that info in because Tim and I were wondering if there was a difference between Sam Houston and Sam Houston Jones and now we know there is. There are a few museums and a Historical District to visit here in Lake Charles. There are also three Casinos in town so we might just find our way to one and check it out.
Yesteday's drive was uneventful. No accidents, bounty hunter arrests, etc. We traveled through three states to reach Louisiana; Florida, Alabama and Mississippi. The longest part of the trip was the drive through Louisiana. We chose to bypass New Orleans and catch it on our return trip to save some time and mileage. Louisiana is a big state to drive through when you are traveling the southern part of it especially since the Highway is in pretty rough shape. When you are pulling a 40 ft camper you can really feel the bumps...and we did!
