As I am writing this Tim, Shadow and I are still on the road. We left Lakehills, TX last night around 10:00 pm. We drove over night to avoid the heat during the day. It worked, the low temperature driving last night was 65 degrees. I actually got cold. We did stop for a couple of hours around 4:00am at a rest stop so Tim could rest his eyes. The nice thing about pulling your home is you can get into it where ever you are.
El Paso plus is our goal. I will explain the plus in tomorrow's post.
Yesterday Tim and I went to explore Cascade Caverns. We took an hour tour and went through the oldest cave attraction in Texas. It is located in Boerne, TX and opened to the public in 1932. In 1932 and for the first few years the only way to enter the cave was with a bucket using a pulley system. The owner of the cave would use his pick up truck and pull the bucket up and down getting one person in the cave at a time. Since WWII stairs have been added so now you can get down to the cave on your own. The cave is a living cave with 98% of it still alive. The temperature in the cave year round is 62 degrees. Since it was a cool 103 yesterday the cave felt great! It is a smaller cave and it very wet. They run two sump pumps to keep the water out of the cave. If they did not it would be filled with water. As we got deeper in the cave it became pretty dark. They do not light the cave well so seeing at times was difficult. It did have some beautiful formations and something that is truely unigue to this cave was the ceiling. It had several circular holes caused by whirlpools when the water is high. The cave cannot compete with any caves you can visir in Tennessee, Missouri and out west but it is worth checking it out if you are in the area. We will be able to compare Cascade cavern with Carlsbad Caverns soon.
So, today we will be 90 miles from Jenny and Nate. We have a big surprise for them but you will have to wait until tomorrow's post to find out what it is. Meanwhile we are still Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'.
