Ruidoso Downs, NM

On our way to and from Roswell we drove through some beautiful landscapes. Along the way we went through the small village of Ruidoso Downs. It is a suburb of Ruidoso. It is a tourist town and for some pretty good reasons; casinos, horse racing and beautiful scenery. Ruidoso Downs was incorporated in 1947 but became a village in 2002. It sits at 6420 above sea level and its population is 2560. The median income is $29,375 with the median age of 35. Ruidoso Downs Race Track hosts horse races of thoroughbreds and quarterhorses,Billy the Kid Casino is the fun place to play and the Hubbard Museum of the American West is the cultural area in Riodoso Downs.
Outside the museum there is a beautiful display of life size horses running in their natural environment. I posted pitures of the display. It was amazing and I am not even a horse fan. The best part of Ruidoso Downs for me was the cool air. It was 65 degrees when we were there and it felt great especially after being in Roswell where the temperature was 97 degrees. Riodoso Downs is a beautiful area to visit.
Today Tim, Jenny, Nathan and I are going to the Otero County Fair here in Alamogordo.
