A Day of Shopping

I went Christmas shopping yesterday and I am almost done.  The nice thing is the stores were still not busy and I did not have to wait very long in any line.  On line business is way up this year but next week the stores will get very busy.  On line won't be able to deliver before Christmas (well for a price they will) so the stores will be the only way to get what you need.  I went to visit my store (well it was six months ago) Toys 'R' Us.  I worked for TRU for 20 years.  It was a great job where I was able to work with some wonderful people and have developed good friendships that still exist.  I actually visited twice yesterday.  Once around noon and the other time around 10:00 pm last night.  I will have to go back one more time to see a few more friends.  It was good to be back and I felt like I was home.  (It was my home away from home especially during this time).  So, here is some TRU history!
Toys 'R' Us was founded in 1948 by Charles Lazarus with a baby furniture store in Washington DC.  His customers had asked him to begin selling baby toys along with the furniture.  He did and after a while his customers asked him to carry toys for older children  The focus of the store was changed in 1957 and Toys 'R' Us was born.  Currently there are 875 Toys 'R' Us and Babies 'R' Us stores in the U.S. and more than 600 international stores with 140 licensed stores in 35 countries and jurisdictions.
Today we are playing golf, something we did not do during our journey.  Tonight I have a rehearsal for "Clay County Christmas".  It is an annual Christmas show in Clay County Florida. It has turned into a big deal for Clay County and the Inspirations from OPUMC has had the honor of preforming at it every year.
