Pier Park

We went to Pier Park yesterday to celebrate Mother's Day. Pier Park is a 900,000 sq ft family entertainment complex located on the beach with the city pier in front of it and Hwy 98 behind it.  It is an outdoor shopping mall with a festive Caribbean look and has everything from National chain stores to local boutiques and specialty stores.  It has a huge movie theater, lots of restaurants and a small amusement park for kids of all ages.  We walked along the street and looked at all the speciality stores along the way.  We met up with our friends Robin and Bob and their son Chris to have lunch.  They went to see a movie first.  It had rained all morning (about 3") but after 1:00 the sun came out and the rest of the day was beautiful.  We decided to eat at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville.  We have eaten there a few times.  It has great food and atmosphere.  After lunch we checked out a few more stores and did a lot of window shopping.  It was a pretty busy place and there were a lot of really cool stores.  It was a great way to spend a relaxing Sunday.  Afterwards, we went to one of our favorite beach stores that usually have a sale on our favorite beach sandals (Reef).  Tim found a pair at 1/2 price but there was nothing I liked in my size.  We then went back to Robin and Bob's campsite and hung around for a while.  It was a nice Mother's Day and the only thing that would of made it better is if I could of been with my girls and my mom but spending it with my best friend is a good substitute.
