Last night I got together with some of my best friends from High School. It was so good to see Ski, Maud and Barb aka Diana, Beth and Barb. We were all on the Track team together and we were all very good friends. In most cases, we were inseparable. We were also very devoted to the sport and trained all year long together. I went back down to Glenview and visited my friend Diana, who is in a rehab home from surgery she had just under gone. It was so good to see her and we talked for a couple of hours just catching up with each other. Diana and I have been friends since elementary school and have played softball and run track together. It was good to be together again and I hope she gets well soon. I then went to Hackney's to meet Beth and Barb. Beth and I were best friends in High School and spent most of our HS years together. We had a lot of similar interests so we were together a lot. Beth and I also attended Northern Arizona University together and she sang at my wedding. Barb and I met through the track team and became instant friends. Barb was also a swimmer so she did not do a lot of the fall and winter training due to her swimming. We all hung out together on week ends, when we were not competing, and summers. We had so much fun being together again last night that we ended up closing down the restaurant. Hackney's was very gracious and did not kick us out and our waitress was very patient with us even when she approached us for the 5th time to see if we were ready to order. We left a nice tip! Thanks Beth, Barb and Ski for a the great time together.
As my days are ending in the Chicago area I have to say that this has been one of my best trips coming home again. Being with my family and friends and seeing the areas I grew up in was great and I will leave here with some great new memories. They say you can't go home again and that is true but you can visit it!
