Rockville, IN

Rockville, IN is located in Adams Township in Parke County, IN.  Rockville is the county seat of Parke County.  The population of Rockville is 2765 with a median income of $27,800 and a median age of 42.  Rockville was formed in 1824 became the county seat in 1825 and was incorporated in 1854.  Rockville is just a really neat small town and even has its own movie theater that runs first run movies and also is home to the local theater group, the Parke Players. The Parke Players, who renovated the theater, kept it as a first run movie theater but also made it so their productions could be performed there too.  The downtown area is the business district and it has a hometown feeling to it.  Raccoon lake is located in Rockville.  It is a lake formed by a dam on the juction of Raccoon creek and the Wabash river.  It was formed to help prevent down river flooding.  The lake is a 2000 acre lake used for recreation in the area.  It is a popular place for camping, fishing and recreational boating.  There are Amish farms in the area and occasionally you will come across an Amish wagon sharing the highway with you.  Rockville is a great town to visit if you are in Parke county.

  1. I lived in Rockville until I was 9! There used to be a drive-in movie theater too until it was destroyed by a tornado. Great memories in that town!
