Buck Meadows, CA
Buck Meadows, CA, population 31 with a median age of 44 is located about 5 miles from the Yosemite Lakes TT. It was originally called Hamilton Station and was established by Alva Hamilton in the 1870s. It was a stage coach stop and it did have a post office from 1915 - 1925. Today there is an inn and restaurant. About 2 1/2 miles from Buck Meadows is a vista overlook which overlooks the canyon that contains the South Fork of the Tuolumne river. It is a beautiful view of the canyon and the terrain in the canyon is different when looking South to North. There was even a view of one of the peaks in Yosemite National Park. We went through Buck Meadows on our way to get gas. There is a gas station at the country store at TT but diesel was $5.39 a gallon and we knew that just 12 miles away we could get it for $4.29. It was worth the drive and it was a beautiful day for a drive anyway. I will try to post more pictures later this morning.
