We left Menifee, CA around 3:30 AM yesterday headed to Cottonwood, AZ without the RV. We wanted to miss the morning traffic in Menifee, Riverside, Palm Springs, etc; and we did! We got into Arizona just as the sun was rising. It was beautiful! We decided to take Hwy 89 to Prescott to avoid the Phoenix morning rush hour. The experience was cool but had a lot of curves. The road twisted and turned up through the mountains to Prescott and beyond. It reminded us of our drive up to Yosemite except I was driving this time, minus an RV. We stopped in Prescott for breakfast then headed to Cottonwood. We were looking at campsites at the Verde Valley Thousand Trails; more on this in a future posting. Afterwards, we rented an RV at Verde Valley TT for the night then headed to Sedona. We decided to go to Upper Sedona and shop a little bit but most of all to see the Red Rocks at sun set. As the sun goes down it lights up the red rocks that surrounds upper Sedona. It is beautiful and the rays of the sun shines on the rocks and highlights areas of the rocks to make them more beautiful. It has been a long time since I had seen that so I was in awe and just took pictures like crazy. The lower the sun set highlighted the red rocks and changed the looks of the rocks.
After the sun set we headed back to Cottonwood, had dinner then went back to the rented RV for the night. We were both pretty tired due to our early morning departure so bedtime came early!
Today we head back to Menifee and Carlsbad for a family Thanksgiving!
